The Faculty of Business and Law offers quality courses that are accredited or recognised by professional bodies both nationally and internationally. Details are set out below. Because some professional associations have specific requirements for membership, students should seek academic advice to ensure that they take the subjects required in order to meet those requirements.
Graduates of the following accredited degrees meet the educational prerequisite for the professional programmes at CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, the Institute of Public Accountants, and international professional associations ACCA and CIMA:
Exemptions in the qualifying programs for membership of the Association of International Accountants (AIA), the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MCPA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) are also available to graduates of the above programs, as is associate membership of The Tax Institute.
The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) offers exemptions for the Bachelor of Business (Accountancy), Bachelor of Commerce (Accountancy), Master of Professional Accounting and Master of Business Administration. For further information visit the CIMA Exemption website.
Graduates of the Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics will be awarded the SAS Academic Specialisation in Introductory Business Analytics.
Graduates of Master’s degrees in various Business Disciplines with an Advanced Program in Business Analytics at the University of Wollongong will be awarded the SAS Academic Specialisation in Business Analytics.
Graduates of the Master of Business Analytics will be awarded the SAS Academic Specialisation Advanced Business Analytics.
The Bachelor of Business (Finance), Bachelor of Economics and Finance, Master of Applied Finance (Investing), and the Master of Applied Finance (Investing & Financial Services) have been accepted into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program. This status is granted to institutions whose degree program(s) incorporate at least 70% of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK), which provide students with a solid grounding in the CBOK and positions them well to sit for the CFA exams. In addition, students are strongly recommended to complete the free online learning module, Ethics and Standards of Practice available through the CFA Institute®.
The Bachelor of Business (Financial Planning) and the Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Planning) are accredited by the Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA). Both degrees also satisfy the curriculum requirements of the Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA), meaning graduates will be eligible to apply for membership and secure admission to the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® Certification Program delivered by FAAA.
In addition, both degrees satisfy the tertiary qualifications requirements to register as a Tax (Financial) Adviser with the Tax Practitioners Board.
The Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management), the Bachelor of Commerce (Human Resource Management) and the Master of Human Resource Management meet the accreditation requirements of the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI). Graduates of these programs will be eligible for AHRI membership.
A UOW law degree is recognised for admission as a lawyer in Australia, subject to completing state-approved Practical Legal Training (PLT). Further details for NSW students can be found at the Legal Profession Admission Board website.
The Bachelor of Laws is accredited by the Bar Council of India and the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh. Students from India and Bangladesh are encouraged to apply. Graduates can be accredited to practice as a barrister or solicitor upon returning home, subject to the completion of any required bridging course.
The Master of Marketing is recognised by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) as part of its Graduate Gateway program. Graduates gain admission into the CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing with exemptions.
Marketing graduates may be eligible for membership of the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI), the Australian Market and Social Research Society (AMRS) and The Communication Council (TCC).
Graduates of the Bachelor of Business (Public Relations) and the Bachelor of Commerce (Public Relations) may be eligible for membership of the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA).
Graduates of the Bachelor of Business (Supply Chain Management), the Bachelor of Commerce (Supply Chain Management) and the Master of Supply Chain Management may be eligible for membership of the Supply Chain & Logistics Association of Australia (SCLAA) and the Logistics and Supply Chain Management Society (LSCMS) Singapore.
Master of Supply Chain Management is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS).
