School of Management, Operations and Marketing 

The School of Management, Operations and Marketing is an expanded school within the new Faculty of Business. The School offers opportunities for synergy in teaching and a solid foundation for interdisciplinary research programs and research training.

The School has around 55 full-time teaching staff and offers premier Management, Operations and Marketing programs that provide students with the ability to acquire knowledge, practice and skills that enable graduates to analyse, assess, and make informed business decisions in a competitive global business environment.

The School offers a range of full-time and part-time programs which are available in Wollongong, Southern Sydney, South Western Sydney, Shoalhaven, Batemans Bay, Bega and Moss Vale, as well as Dubai, Malaysia and Singapore.

Our undergraduate programs offer specialised majors in management, marketing, human resource management, public relations, supply chain management, business innovation and international business, within the Bachelor of Commerce degree. The School’s Human Resource Management degrees are accredited by the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI). A Bachelor of Business degree is available for students who do not wish to take a specialisation.

For students interested in continuing studies and professionals wishing to further develop personal and technical skills the School runs a vibrant Honours program and contributes to a range of postgraduate coursework programs offered by the Sydney Business School, University of Wollongong.

The School has a diverse and productive research program, which has been successful both in attracting grants and delivering publications in top ranked journals. In the Australian Research Council’s 2012 ERA research rankings, the School’s disciplines scored highly. Staff are active in several UOW research strengths and collaborative programs – specific research area/topic available through contacting the relevant Discipline Leader or the Faculty Research Unit. School staff supervise around 60 higher degree research students undertaking doctoral degrees or masters by research.

Students are offered opportunities for industry and social engagement. In 2012-13 students from the School joined the University of Wollongong/TAFE Illawarra’s winning ‘Illawarra Flame’ Team in the ‘Solar Decathlon’, a high profile international interdisciplinary research and innovation competition.
